Okay, I lied about not posting on the weekend, because someone’s having a busy one! From The Hollywood Reporter:
BERLIN – Shia LaBeouf stormed out of a press conference for Lars von Trier‘s Nymphomaniac Sunday after answering one question.
He slowly and deliberately said: “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much.”
The rest of the panelists in attendance — including stars Christian Slater, Stacy Martin, Stellan Skarsgard, Uma Thurman and producer Louise Vesth — looked stunned for a moment before lightly applauding while LaBeouf quickly exited.
The “seagulls” line is a quote from French soccer legend Eric Cantona who is featured in Ken Loach‘s Looking for Eric. The film ends with footage of Cantona at press conference where he made the seagulls statement while the credits roll.
Well, if nothing else, he finds some interestingly obscure things to plagiarize, especially for a no-longer-famous person. (Click that link. Definitely click it.) Shia, I hope you’re just messing with us at this point, because if not, I’m getting concerned. Maybe talk to someone? In actual sentences, not weird stolen quotes?
(Also, Christian Slater is in a movie again…? Good for him!)
Thanks to Artdork for the tip!
