Friday!

KittenAtbeachIt’s the weekend! We’re ending a little early today, because I have some errands to run, but please tell me about your weekend plans. Are you going to do laundry? Eat some food? Maybe see that new Tom Cruise movie that actually sounds interesting and has been getting really good reviews (I know, weird) (ETA: and also never mind, because Carmen has informed me that it doesn’t come out until next week)? Let me know.

I’ll be hoping it gets really hot, because I finally have an air conditioner in my bedroom and want to laugh in the face of nature. Come at me, weather. Do your worst. (Do not do your worst. Your worst is very bad.) I’ll also probably get caught up on some TV as cool air swirls luxuriously around me.

I’m doing a pub crawl tomorrow and I am pumped!

  2. Edge of Tomorrow doesn’t come out until next week. šŸ˜¦ What is with Emily Blunt and her affinity for thinking man’s sci-fi? (For the record, I consider The Five-Year Engagement thinking man’s sci-fi.)

  3. My stomach is currently doing terrible things to me because it’s one of those days when it doesn’t want to digest anything.

I was going to go to an art opening, but I kind of want to go home and watch TV all night. And maybe feel well enough to order some food.

Even if Edge of Tomorrow was coming out this weekend I would not see it because obviously Tom Cruise is not a person I want in front of my face if I can help it, but also it looks like kind of a ripoff of Source Code. Also I am hoping to see Chinese Puzzle (the three-quel to L’Auberge Espagnole and Russian Dolls) if I can convince my sister to come. I would go alone but it’s one of those things where we have a sisterly bond over those particular movies so it would be like a cruel betrayal if I went without her; very frustrating when the sister in question is busy and pregnant!

    • Edge of Tomorrow looks really good, but I really wish it was Emily Blunt and someone else. Unfortunately Tom Cruise still does well with international audiences, because they don’t know how terrible he is.

I think Maleficent is the only major movie coming out this weekend. My friends and I aren’t particularly excited about it, so we’re going to see Jon Favreau’s new movie Chef

    • I keep forgetting about Maleficent. They’ve been hyping it for so long that I keep thinking it’s out already.

    • flanny says:

I think I’ve seen a feature-length-film amount of footage of Maleficent from all the dang ads.

I love a good villainness, so I’ll be seeing that movie eventually. But Chef looks good, and I almost went to see it last weekend, except we decided to see The Other Woman instead. That decision made me feel ashamed both as a woman and a moviegoer.

Catticus was meant to be home today, but I won’t be able to pick him up until tomorrow now (he is doing great, but he needed a transfusion and the donor cat was uncooperative, which sounds kind of horrible? Like, I’m glad he’s getting blood, but at what cost?) (also, in my head the donor cat was given cookies and orange juice after) (but seriously, do they just tie him up and drain him, or what?) (anyway, they close early today and the transfusion was started late, is the point).

Almost as exciting, tomorrow is the lumberack festival!! AAAAANNNDDDD tomorrow I have someone coming to look at, and hopefully purchase, my house!! Then on Sunday I am going to hang out with a friend who is puppy sitting for his aunt!!! And then Game of Thrones! What a good weekend for me.

I started my weekend plan early this week, which means that I watched The Normal Heart two nights ago, and I cried so many separate times! The first half was like, OK, I’ll be able to handle this emotionally, I guess they’re not going to be focusing on the sad stuff, and then the second half was like, I’VE BEEN TAKEN IN BY THE FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY GENERATED IN THE FIRST HALF UH-OH HERE COME THE FACE FLUIDS AGAIN!

I will be seeing the new fella again! And then writing an essay on some short stories. But there’s champagne and cookie dough in my fridge, so if I write my essay, I can have both at once. Or maybe instead of writing my essay? We shall see, this was not in my flanoscope.

I have brunch plans this weekend, and am super excited about early afternoon drinking. Also, I taught today and promptly came home and fell asleep on the couch LIKE AND ADULT.

The monster formerly known as Manners wants me to go see The Immigrant with him, but I kinda want to make him go see X-Men with me instead. I need dumb fun, not serious stuff!
