What’s In Your Bag?

IMG_1358

Who remembers this meme from Ye Olde Livejournal Days? Let’s bring it back! I’m nosy and love seeing inside people’s personal spaces. (And gentlemen, if you have work bags/briefcases, you should play too!)

From left to right, I’m packing my phone, a hair tie and a penny (useful), hand cream, an old film case full of Excedrin Migraine, car lock de-icer, my “wallet” (it’s just a silver wristlet that came with a set, and apparently I’m too cheap to buy a real wallet?), my checkbook, a spare car key, and CANDY I DIDN’T KNOW I HAD (it has now been eaten).

On the bottom, all the lipsticks/balms I managed to cram into that tiny purse. Shameful.

What’s in yours? Tell us even if you can’t take a picture!

    Blue purse pals!

I have contact info from someone I met at a networking luncheon, a Ricola, my Ikea family card keyring tag loose in a pocket, my wallet, car keys with a London 2012 keyring someone gave me, a small stack of business cards that I need a holder for, two Starbucks giftcards, my house and office keys, a pen, a regular tampon, and two half-used tubes of Chapstick. I thought I’d lost one so I opened a new one and then found the original in a jacket pocket. The unwrapped one is almost done, though.

My fascinating bag has a wallet, a Kindle nestled in the case I made for it, lip gloss, travel comb/mirror, one generic brand Lactaid tablet (fellas!), my Ventra card (public transportation pass, non-Chicagoans), keys, a tampon, and a pen.

Ooo this is fun! I am heading to the airport today…so the contents are a bit less random than normal. Airport snacks, lotion/chapsticks, new book for the plane, phone charger, tourist guidebook and boarding pass, work keys, glasses AND sunglasses, small wristlet wallet for travel (my usual wallet is larger) and then hat and mittens. Duh, Minnesota.

I didn’t take a pic of my bag, but its one that I bought on a sample sale from my days working at Macy’s. Its pale pink. Its the perfect travel bag because it only has one strap and is easy to fit under your arm, but it fits way more than you think that it would.

Ooh, let us know how Z is!

      • Sota says:

Will do! In a wild show of restraint I haven’t even started it yet! Usually I try to buy vacation books and then accidentally read the whole thing before I even leave home.

I logged into a community I never comment in/on only to say I NEED to know where to obtain those sunglasses.

          That’s only minorly creepy….right?

        • Sota says:

Totally not creepy! 😉 Come join us here more often…we are fun!

The sunglasses are from Toms (same as the shoes) and the style name is Windward. These specific ones are their collaboration with charity:water, which was a while back, but they may still have the same frame style. I have a bright blue pair too.

        • Sota says:

Ps. They are worth buying. Best sunglasses I’ve ever had.

  4. Sota says:

Everyone has such cute bags! I want them all! (Totally girly comment. I know!)

Are we bringing back old memes now? Hey, everybody, ASL?

I don’t usually carry a bag. Having nice coats and coat pockets to stuff is basically the only acceptable thing about winter.

I have a grocery store receipt in one pocket and one glove in the other. I have lost multiple gloves this winter because I am a responsible adult.

    • gnidrah says:

My uncle was the same with umbrellas! He’d get through at least six a year because he just lost them, which on the one hand meant you got rained on a lot, but on the other hand, there was always something we could buy him for his birthday or Christmas…

  7. artdorkgirl says:

So my phone is not cooperating, but I got a new purse for Christmas (it’s a brown Fossil shopper) and inside are:
    headphones
    Game of Thrones book 1
    tissues
    lip gloss and chapstick
    altoids
a brochure from the Coolidge Theater that has Benedict Cumberbatch on it from when I went to see Imitation Game
a stack of my business cards
a cvs receipt a mile long
    a small thing of advil
    tampon
    loose change
    wallet
    my winter hat

I never really did the LiveJournal thing, so here’s me making up for it.

From left to right, top to bottom: phone charger, sunglasses, bluetooth earphones, “change purse”*, microfiber cloth, wipes, Cold-eeze lozenge, Burt’s Bees lip balm, SD card, copy of Wired, hat & gloves.

The story behind that bag is that I originally purchased it thinking it was a Playstation 2 carrying case, but it turned out to be an ordinary messenger bag with PS2 branding. However, It’s pretty roomy, and since I work at a place full of nerds, I don’t care so much about looking like an adult. In my past life when I did care, I used this bag.

*it’s actually a D&D dice bag I got from a gaming convention, but I don’t play D&D and have a shitload of coins

    • martinmegz says:

WAIT Wait a minute where were you trying to cart your PS2 around to so often that you wanted a carrying case for it???

      • FRQ says:

Oh there are a number of reasons for carting around a console. Personally, I would take it to other people’s houses and play with friends. People also take their consoles when they travel for various reasons.

  9. gnidrah says:

God my bag is a mess, but doing this forced me to tidy it!

Clockwise from bottom right, we have: purse, big Greek history book, Tintin diary, ipod, London 2012 volunteer umbrella (no, I will NOT get over it, tyvm), vaseline, gloves, random plastic spoon (I guess you never know when you might need one), 1D collapsible grocery bag, 1D travelcard wallet, sunglasses, tiny hairbrush.

I chucked out a lot of other crap

  10. facetaco says:

Okay, I finally looked into my bag. Turns out the lead singer of Muse was in there.

  11. I have 2 granola bars, a baggie full of tums, my keys, charger, mints, two types of lip balm (not counting the softlips in my pocket…), wallet, hat & gloves, and my iPad. I also have lots of papers and receipts that I didn’t feel like admitting to in photo form and also a couple valentines from mr. truck from the past couple years, but those are private :).

  12. Commentatrix says:

Is it too late to play?

This is so embarrassing because I always prided myself on not having a bag full of junk, but it turns out that while the bag is large enough that the junk barely fills it halfway, the junk is still plentiful. From left to right:
-a button that doesn’t pin anymore that I got as a present and says, “I like big books and I cannot lie.” (It should be noted that I haven’t read a whole book in A WHILE.)
-an envelope containing my new debit card, not yet opened
-a postcard that I’ve been carrying since the last time I got my mail, same as the debit card.
    -a temporary library card
-a punch card for a cheap massage place
    -a Costco gift card
    -face blotting sheets
    -my work ID badge
Some Dayquil I forgot to take when I was sick months ago
    -a tiny flash drive
-an iPod shuffle from like 2006 (?)
    -deodorant
-three tampons and a panty liner bc I only remember to pack them randomly rather than when I actually need them.
    -EOS lip balm
    -Altoids and Sudafed, of course
    -a highlighter and a pen
    -fancy lady wallet

  13. martinmegz says:

Hi guys I’m here! Still at work and ready to play the bag game!

    -Toothbrush/toothpaste/mouth wash
    -pens
    -sunglasses
-lip gloss/candy cane Chapstick (THE BEST!)
    -face powder
    -keys
    -hair tie
    -Starbucks gift card
    -wallet
    -gum
    -mints

The best part of the story is where I got the bag. Last year there was a cash grab booth (the bills swirl around you in the air) on the major shopping street next to my office. Instead of real cash, we got the grab fake bills and some had stickers that corresponded to gift certificates. It was the most thrilling 20 seconds of my life! I won a Clark’s GC and used a sale and online coupon code to get this $75 bag for $17! I love a good deal so much.

    • Sota says:

Candy cane chapstick is the best! I bought 12 tubes of it on sale after Christmas to tide me over till next year. Lol.
