In the US, Crocs are despised by anyone with functioning eyes and even the slightest fashion sense . Japan is a different story, where their products are fully embraced by its denizens. In fact, the shoemaker created a concept store in Tokyo to celebrate their 10 year anniversary in the Land of the Rising Sun. The kiosk is set up so that orders are taken on a series of tablets, where customers choose their preferred color and size. Once a selection is made, a drone picks up a pair from an overhead rack and delivers it to the requester below.
You’re probably thinking that this will usher in a new age of flying machines, terrorizing the public by dropping ugly footware on our heads. I’m here to tell you that there’s nothing to worry about. The classic Crocs we all know and “love” are too heavy for these drones to carry. They were designed specifically to carry shoes from the Norlin line, which are lightweight loafers. Crocs doesn’t intend to expand this concept anywhere else, so we are safe for the time being.
