How Was Your Weekend?

I was sooooo lazy this weekend, and it was wonderful. I just stayed inside and watched Netflix (I’ve finally started The X-Files, it’s very exciting) and read trashy books and listened to the rain go full monsoon outside.

(Co-BM’s Note: Please also take this time to read Fatima’s scary story and voice your opinions, as comments were disabled for some damn reason last week.)

I got really drunk at my sister’s birthday karaoke night on Friday and then smoked an illegal substance while the few of us who made it to last call wandered around looking for a 4AM bar (we failed). So I spent most of Saturday asleep and then yesterday I got to hang out with the baby and also the rest of my family but mostly the baby.

I also started watching Sens8 and I barely made it through the first episode because that intro part with Daryl Hannah was so ughhhhh but I’m glad I stuck with it because it is entertaining so far.

My weekend was good. It commenced with World Cup on Friday afternoon, and when I got home I watched the president’s eulogy of Rev Pinckney, which was fairly remarkable. I never saw a president sing before. Saturday was Game Day with my nerdiest friends (we meet to play games once a month) and things took some surprising in-game turns, which was super nerdy fun. And yesterday was writing day. Also yesterday, I forgot to move my car before ticketing started, but even so I had no ticket. Thanks, universe!

My weekend was great! I helped my mom get her website up and running, which was quite a task. I did a deep cleaning/vacuuming/scrubbing of my place, which I feel really good about. I went out for drinks with my cousin, brunched with friends, and somehow volunteered to dogsit for my friend’s puppy. He is the CUTEST! So I am all happy with sunshine outside, a short week and puppy fun.

Not a bad weekend at all! It started out when Facetaco and I met up at a very fancy distillery on Friday. He’s VERY enjoyable, guys. Oh, we had some laughs. Then we went to a gay bar and champagne toasted gay marriage. Pretty great Friday! Then on Saturday I was embarrassingly hungover, so I napped a lot. And then on Sunday I started packing for real! I’m mooooooving, and I’m so excited!

I am always so jealous when monsters have meet ups and I don’t get to go too. #fomo

Also, in spooky news, this is my first day in my new basement office with someone else also in the basement. And she showed me where there’s a bathroom down here so we don’t have to go all the way upstairs. Well, it’s on the whole other side of the building and you have to go through some weird utility hallway that’s basically the scene from Jurassic Park where Ellie follows the pipes. But it also feels like you’re in the bowels of the Titanic, so I’ll be doing some Titanic cosplay down there, I’m sure. And the bathroom itself smells like the basement of the church I grew up in. AND there is a boarded up bathtub in one of the stalls. I can’t even explain it to you. It’s so weird.

      • Sota says:

Whoa. I am worried that they moved you down to the basement to Milton you out of the company. You better make sure that you are still getting your paychecks. Do you have a red stapler yet?

It is weird when a smell does that. I walked into the kitchen at work today and for a minute it smelled like my kindergarten classroom. Jarring! I hadn’t even remembered that smell — until boom, there it was.

  5. I biked 48 miles yesterday! And then took a nap after. It was good because I spent most of my weekend outside.

Then last night I tried to set up my new record player. I got as far as taking it out of the box and reading the instructions before deciding to pay my friend in beer to do it. The problem is that my friend told me what to order and I did, but there’s 3 different components and all youtube tutorials assume you already know something about setting record players. The worst.

Seriously you guys, my office is DEAD. This week is going to be so SLOW. So expect me to comment on every post like 50 times. I just read an article about the capture of the NY convict Sweat…this:
“The supplies included maps, tools, insect repellent and Pop-Tarts, the governor said.”
    Everyone likes pop-tarts!

  7. My weekend flew by! My haircut looks great and I’m trying a couple techniques to get those perfect waves (so far I tried “spritz texturizer and let it air dry” and I’d give the results a C+). We went for a walk Sunday morning and the weather was so awesome. I really really loved last night’s True Detective. I’m very very excited for The Bachelorette tonight because I like my television in extremes. We set a closing date on our house and booked the movers even though there’s a chance we might get to move into the new place a little early. Lots of stuff going on!!

My weekend was lovely and quiet! We grilled porkchops and corn, and we found out our house in Tulsa might have to go back on the market. Anybody want to buy a house in Tulsa??

“You know how they say Tulsa is the Paris of Oklahoma?” -Chandler Bing

You should probably put that quote on the real estate listing.

I had a pretty great weekend. On Saturday, I got an inadvertently severe haircut…like a straight razor was involved and my sideburns are long gone. It was mostly a matter of the language barrier between me and the barber, but I am embracing my new Spud-like look.

  10. I had a pretty good weekend. A friend tried to set me up with this guy she knew who she said was really cute but when I met him he was a) not that cute and b) had this quality of being really “on” and pretentious. It was exhausting having a conversation. Saturday I did errands and went to the gym, then yesterday I tried out this new fitness class near me that is kind of Crossfit/Interval training. It was really good but I was dead afterwards and super sore today. After that I just kind of laid in my bed trying not to move because of the aforementioned soreness and also the fact that it was a billion degrees. But I got to sleep in and not do much, so that made the weekend a big plus.

  11. I traded off babysitting my niece with my parents all weekend. NOT VERY EXCITING

Ooh, I’m nearly finished with the second season of the X-Files and I am enjoying it immensely. I also recently got back from an idyllic island holiday on a world heritage listed island with no internet, and came back feeling very zen indeed. I’m very ready to deteriorate slowly to my frazzled work-self over the next week!

Last week was very stressful, so this weekend, I tried to relax as much as possible. I watched so much TV and a bunch of movies – Rectify, Penny Dreadful, Whiplash, Begin Again, and that comedy Sex Tape which was not that funny except for a running gag involving Rob Lowe and Disney paintings.

I also watched one and a half Lifetime movies. I don’t usually watch those, but once in a while, that cheesy drama is fun.
