Good News, Everyone!

Hot off my groundbreaking coverage of the release of the publicity still for the Sherlock Victorian Christmas-time Murder Extravaganza, (Moffatt, feel free to use that!) the kindly overlords at BBC have introduced not only the trailer for the upcoming season of Doctor Who, but also a short scene from the upcoming Sherlock!  It’s Christmas in July!!

Videos after the jump!

I’m so excited, I might just explode!!!  What do you guys think???

Ohhh I can’t watch right now but I’m excited to see the Doctor Who trailer. Do we know when the season starts yet?

I saw the Sherlock trailer yesterday and… I don’t know. It was funny but also I hope the whole episode isn’t full of self-referential jokes like that.

The trailer says Sept 19!! That’s pretty soon! PRETTY SOON!

    • artdorkgirl says:

The premier is September 19th!! You should fly to Boston and hang out with me and we can watch it together!

Also, I share your concerns about the meta-jokes. That was my primary complaint about last season. Although I do appreciate Mrs. Hudson yelling at John that she’s more than a plot point.

  3. I have a question…There were some recent comments at the Doctor Who panel at Comic-Con where Stephen Moffatt said he’ll never make a female Doctor and basically everyone kind of already knows he’s a sexist, right? How come I see so many female fans of this show, much more so than male fans? I am in no way judging (I love plenty of shows with douchebag creators/showrunners), just curious if most female Doctor Who fans don’t care or if the show is inherently feminist despite Moffatt’s attitude.

    • artdorkgirl says:

Actually, he said the reverse! While he said the position for the doctor isn’t open right now, he alluded to the fact that the Master is now female as perhaps a hint of things that might happen. He’s said before that the Doctor is a man, but that seems to be changing.

Also, I do think Moffatt has created some strong female characters, like Donna and River, so while Moffatt has said things that are annoying, he’s getting better.

      • catweazle says:

I thought Donna was a Russel T. Davies invention? Anyway, Moffatt definitely doesn’t have the best track record with female characters (Coupling is a funny show but DEAR LORD if I was his wife, who the character Susan is based off of, I would not be pleased) but at least in the most recent season of Doctor Who he seemed to listen to some of the criticisms people have had and made some good changes especially with Clara. I feel like he kind of did the same with Molly on Sherlock who was basically a cartoon womanchild with hearts for eyes at first but now seems like a character with more than one personality trait. Baby steps!
