Making Dating More Obnoxious

Dating can be tough.  You have to deal with creepers, ghosting, and the torture that is writing a damn profile.  Apps like Tinder have simultaneously made things easier, but has carried its own set of problems.  Other apps have attempted to replicate the formula (such as Hinge, Bumble, etc), but Oscar Mayer thought it would be great if they match people based on a much deeper connection: their love of bacon.

Sizzl is just like any of the other swipe apps, but in addition to a self-describing blurb, users detail their bacon preferences and potential mates rate them on their selection.  The other outstanding feature is that it allows you to rate someone via a sizzle meter.  The longer you press it, the hotter you find that person.  Real cutting edge stuff here.

I’m all for new and inventive ways to get people together, but I’ve had enough of this nerdy obsession with bacon.  Yes, it’s delicious, but when it gets to the point where people are selling soap that smells like it, you’ve gone too far.  But if you disagree and are up for trying this out (and have an iPhone), please let me know how it goes.

I don’t really get the purpose of this, because doesn’t pretty much everyone love bacon? Is this just a secret “No Muslims or Jews” dating app? I guess the point is to bring together the kind of people who would use a bacon-based dating app, which I assume is a very particular type of person.
