Wacky Couple Does Engagement Photoshoot

Engagement photoshoots are a required thing now, and sometimes, unsurprisingly, they are very quirky! This particular couple inexplicably did an engagement photoshoot that recreated the opening scene of the classic animated film 101 Dalmations, and admittedly it is very cute. At this point, I was planning on copy/pasting a couple of the pictures in this post to show you the photoshoot, but then I discovered this site that has all the photos and automatically starts playing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift and I couldn’t not link to it. (Okay, but that song is about Romeo & Juliet, another literary/movie couple, and this disconnect is a little jarring. Like, listen to the words, slideshow people. As far as I know, the 101 Dalmatians couple didn’t have to overcome any parental issues. Just because a song is called “Love Story” doesn’t mean it’s applicable to every love story.) Anyway, the photoshoot is very well done, although I have opinions about engagement photoshoots.

I’m not engaged, but I have already planned out my own movie-inspired engagement photoshoot. Basically, it’s going to be the scene from the 1985 cult-favorite Clue where Mr. Green and Yvette have been paired up to explore the attic, and they’re standing at the bottom of the attic stairs kind of arguing about who should go up first and Yvette (I will be dressed as Yvette) is like, “Zhen we will do it togezher.” (I’m good with a French accent.) And then they start up the stairs side-by-side, but then Mr. Green (Jude Law will be dressed as Mr. Green) starts pushing Yvette from behind so she ends up going up the stairs first. Here’s a gif!

I can’t wait to put my own version on facebook for my cousin in Alaska to “like”!

About flanny

Flanny was born and raised in a Detroit suburb, but tells people she's from Detroit without clarification because it makes her sound tough. She is not tough. Her favorite member of One Direction is Louis Tomlinson, and her favorite Agatha Christie detectives are Tommy and Tuppence.

I don’t want to get married ever but I would consider getting engaged so I could have a photoshoot reenacting a scene from my favorite movie! I’m thinking we’ll dress up as Brian Slade and Curt Wild and pose like we’re in the Ballad of Maxwell Demon music video:

Your engagment photo shoot sounds magical. Can I toss my hat in the ring for Mrs. White? I can already recreate her best scene from memory:

This is a hard one. I want to recreate like a bunch of stuff. Can I do all the movies? I don’t want to choose. Off the top of my head, a fun one I would maybe like to do would be a bunch of scenes from What’s Up Doc?
Like when they are riding on the messenger bike…

Or conversing under the table at the banquet…

I’m not really sure anyone would actually get it except me.

    Okay, this for the awesomeness:

    and this for the clothes:

  5. Oh man, this is hard. For classic romance, the final scene of Amelie:

But what I’d really want to do:

I don’t want to get married, so mine will just be me on my own doing the dancing scene from Kickboxer

You’ll look great in that outfit.

      • old man fatima says:

Confessiongum: I have only ever watched this clip on mute. Just now I decided to listen to it to see if the dancing makes any more sense with the music. It almost makes less sense, if that’s possible? Get it together, people!

I loved this movie when it came out, and now it looks like it was filmed on an alien planet. Time is flowing like a river to the sea, you guys.

      • Simon Spiderfleek says:

No, wait, I got it confused with Bloodsport, which I assume is still awesome. Phew. Carry on.

        • old man fatima says:

That was my problem too! They all melt together after a while, I guess… And yeah, Bloodsport totally holds up.

We rolled our eyes when we found out an engagement shoot came with our photographer’s price, but he told us it was a good way to get used to being in front of the camera and to get to know him better so we would be less nervous on the wedding day. He was right.

It was so much fun!! We ate ice cream and went to an abandoned barn and brought some goofy props for a few pictures. We jokingly recreated an 80s movie scene, but not with costumes or anything.

Oh, that makes sense! I guess my primary opinion about engagement photoshoots is how now they are required. And then couples keep saying, “Oh my god, planning a wedding is so stressful and there are so many decisions to make.” And I’m like, “I know, and the world keeps adding to the list!” Let’s all just agree to not add any other new traditions to weddings, okay? I can’t keep track/be bothered to be equally excited about all of them.
