The Greatest Meowgician of Our Time

The title of this amazing gif is “He’ll never suspect a thing.”

Does your pet have any special talents? My beloved Vedder the Cat was great at stealing my pillow in the middle of the night and she could throw hair ties across the room. Please share photos of your animal companions in the comments!

This is literally the perfect gif.

Mycroft plays fetch and Chompsky is pretty good at just kind of existing.

Share a picture of my cat?!??! Don’t mind if I do!

Nan is dumber than a box of hair and scared of everything, but she is very pretty. Her greatest talent is pretending she just happened to be walking into the same room as me when really we both know she was following me because she loves me. Other than that she isn’t smart enough to have talents.

Sounds like a long con to me. Let you get your guard down and think she’s not bright enough to figure things out and then BAM! I’m not sure what that BAM is, but I am just saying you better watch out. Never underestimate a cat.

I think Chompsky is long-conning me. I tried to teach her tricks, but she’s too dumb so I just give her treats for existing. But then Mr Fatima came along and taught her how to shake paw in like 5 minutes! And at the Halloween party, my friend taught her “other paw” in maybe 10! She just knows she can sucker me into anything so she doesn’t bother.

But! I volunteer for a dog shelter and one day they needed an extra dog for foster training classes so I brought her in, and she was way too smart for their tricks! They were trying to teach her release words, so she has to sit there until they say a word even if someone is calling her over or offering her treats. It’s a bit of a mind-fuck for the poor things. Anyway, they’d call her over or show her a treat, and she’d start to go, and they’d reprimand her and try again and she would just ignore them. Like, I know that treat isn’t for me because you just told me so, so I’m not wasting any more mind space on it. When they finally said the release word or put the food bowl down or whatever, she’d just ignore them and wander off somewhere else.

Sometimes I wonder if maybe she’s book smart but we’ll never know because she can’t read.

She is very beautiful and looks super sweet! Is she a lap sitter? Catticus was the best lap sitter, and I’m trying to get Mycroft into it but he’s not super interested.

      • flanny says:

Frasier, my childhood cat, was a major lap sitter, but Nan is not, so I’m glad to hear of someone else who has a cat who doesn’t like to sit. She sometimes will use my elbow as a pillow, which is very precious, though.

    • flanny says:

Guys, I took that picture four hours ago and Nan is still is that exact same spot, although she did curl into a little ball. Cats! Living the fucking dream.

The eyes on the cat in that gif are wayyy too human like. Its freaky. Are we sure it’s not really a human trapped in a cat body?

Ugh! I’m at work on this cruddy computer so I don’t have any Fry and Leela pics to share. They’re pretty awesome though. They like to snuggle and Fry has learned that if he says “wah” instead of “meow” that we’ll talk to him. Leela chirps. Fry also likes to jump on to very tall things, and I believe once scared Flanny by doing that.

    • flanny says:

Was I scared? Or was I just impressed?

    • old man fatima says:

Aww, Catticus was silent except for his purrs and the occasional attempt to meow which sounded like a buffalo who smokes too many cigarettes, but Mycroft is a big chirper. He announces his every move with a little “brrrp.” It’s great because you can tell when he’s about to do something naughty. He is so careful to be sneaky about it because he knows he isn’t allowed to, but then right as he goes to do it he’s like “brrrp” and the jig is up.

If I was talking to my roommate, and then ended with “Right, Blue?” Blue would meow. I loved that cat.

      • flanny says:

Nan meows when she wants something or knows I have food for her, but a lot of her communication so just sort of making a grumbling, whining noise without opening her mouth, like when I pet her awake. She also sighs a lot while she’s falling asleep, which is literally the cutest.

Hold on. Is the cat sitting there eating those spinach leaves? Do cats like spinach leaves?
