Otherwise, gonna sit in my PJs most of the weekend…we’ve had to wake the kid up to get ready for school the past couple days, so I’m really excited to see how late she’ll sleep when we don’t wake her up. (Fully aware that I’m jinxing it and she’ll be wide awake at 5am tomorrow, but at least I can say I called it.)

Also, guys, I saw on Uproxx the question: What’s the most you’ve ever been surprised by a TV character’s villainy? and I thought it was a really interesting question and as nice as those people are over there, let’s talk about it here because I like you guys more.

I think for me it was Gus Fring in Box Cutter…that truly shocked me.
Also when Tony killed Christopher (Sopranos)(too old of a show for spoiler warning, sorry!)…that wasn’t villiany exactly, but I found it very shocking (but brilliant).

Well I can’t believe Angel’s soul-loss wasn’t spoiled for me because I didn’t watch Buffy at all until like five years ago. So that one was a surprise (and also took place in an episode called Surprise!).

This one isn’t actually a character being a villain but it’s close enough and I love it: at the end of season 1 of The Vampire Diaries when (SPOILERS) Elena is hanging out in the kitchen with her uncle-dad and she chops his fingers off because she was actually Katherine the whole time.

      • catweazle says:

Basically every time Katherine bamboozles people into thinking she’s Elena and does something evil is my favorite mainly because Katherine’s Elena impressions are so accurate while being ever-so-slightly shady toward Elena.

I thought I didn’t have an answer for this, but do you guys remember Rome, the HBO show from, like, ten years ago that starred Kevin McKidd and James Purefoy? Well, there was a character in that who had her eyes set on a married man and she killed his wife and I was so pissed. Also in that show, Kevin McKidd cursed his children and sold them into slavery. Don’t worry, guys, he went out and found them all again!!! Also Antony and Cleopatra once got stoned and dressed up a guy like a deer and shot him with arrows. That’s just a really good show!

Everything Mary does in Downton Abbey makes me angry even though I already know that Mary is a cunt. I guess it’s a testament to the show and the actress that I have stronger feelings about her than I do about 99% of the people I know irl. The series finale made me SO ANRGY and if they don’t unfuck it in the Christmas episode I am going to burn Highclere Castle to the ground.

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of my dad’s death and I haven’t really been told anything about anything that’s going on with the family but I expect that I’ll get an email some time in the next 12 hours asking me to come to some sort of family gathering which would be the woooooorst because I am a jerk who just wants to let the anniversary pass without comment.

On the bright side I’m having brunch in the morning with some current and former co-workers, one of whom is my good friend and former roommate and we’re going to day drink afterward before I go to my class so I can at least be slightly buzzed for any group mourning without having to drink in front of my mom.

I was going to go Christmas gift shopping, but my brother texted me with the gifts he got for the nieces and nephew so then I was inspired and did all my shopping in about the last twenty minutes. My sister said the kiddos wanted anything Star Wars or Lego, so I bought a bunch of Star Wars stuff off Think Geek. I hope these kids (and sister and bro-in-law) are ready to realize they have the best aunt (and sister and sister-in-law) ever! So now that I don’t have to go too hardcore on the Christmas shopping, I have no plans for the weekend! I’ll probably just watch the sandal cat gif and the Louis cat gif.

    • catweazle says:

I can’t wait until my nephew is old enough to want me to buy him Star Wars stuff! I bought gifts for my whole family in Ireland so I don’t need to do much Christmas shopping, but even though I bought more stuff for my nephew than anybody else I’m still going to buy him more crap because baby stuff is so cuuuuuute.

      • hotspur says:

Thanks for reminding me to bug my siblings my shopping ideas. I know 2/3 of my nieces are into Hello Kitty like there is no tomorrow, but 1/3 of nieces and all nephews are more elusive quarry… Fingers crossed for Star Wars and Legos.

I’m daydreaming about Pearl Jam’s expected tour next year for their 25th anniversary. I want to try to get to a show in Canada. They’re rumored to be stopping in Quebec, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. Which would be the best city to visit? I’ve only ever been to Vancouver.

    • old man fatima says:

Montreal, hands down. It’s the most fun and the cheapest, and the old city is gorgeous! Ottawa is pretty in a very clean, governmenty way. Justin Trudeau is there. Toronto is overrated. When is the tour? I don’t give a squirt about Pearl Jam, but I’ll come to Montreal to show you the sights and visit old friends! Ottawa too if you decide to go that route, that’s where my bff lives. If you go to Toronto, I will probably not meet you. The odds of me joining you and showing you around are: Montreal 100%; Ottawa 75%; Toronto 2%. I’ve spent a ton of time in all 3 cities, so if you need recommendations with or without me, I am your man!

Tomorrow is Mr Fatima’s family Christmas preparation day. My family doesn’t do anything for Christmas, so I’m expecting to be a bit overwhelmed. It starts with breakfast, moves on to a visit to a farm/petting zoo, and then meeting Santa where everyone including me has to sit on his lap and ask for something, and finally picking out a Christmas tree and everyone goes to the parents’ to decorate theirs and have some drinks, then they load up all the other trees in the truck and drive them to their respective homes. It’s going to be a long day and I’m sure I’ll have lots of fun, but I’m already starting to panic thinking about how much I need to get done for the house and how can I waste a whole day?? Anyway, I’m sure it will be loads of fun. They’re a good bunch.

We are going to do some christmas shopping and also buy Mr. Dork a new suit. Someone is changing from Mr. Dork to Mr. Fancy Pants Dork.

Also, we were going to go see the Fassbender Macbeth, but the stupid theater held Spotlight over for another week, so they aren’t showing it until next week.
