I was supposed to go to San Francisco, but I forgot to buy a plane ticket and they got super expensive. This is just as well, because I need to kick out the jams on vampires #3 and finally get it done. Originally it was supposed to be done in October. So that is my plan: chain myself to a keyboard for the next 72 hours and make magic happen. (Literally magic; there are witches in the book.)

GUYS. What is happening in the world? My part of the country is on the front of with warnings about deadly storms hitting us when usually we are totally immune to weather. We have one weather here: nice. Sometimes it’s a little hot but still nice. 2017 has been nothing but cold and wet. #ThanksTrump

So I’ll spend the weekend trying not to wash away. I’m the only person in the office today except my boss’ boss so that’s fantastic. Really fun. And according to Twitter, the power is out in my neighborhood so not good news for the groceries I stocked up on last night. That’s the last time I try to be responsible!

I’m planning to see John Wick 2 again now that I’ve had a week to think about it and discuss it over brunch and with strangers on Reddit. Assuming my power comes back on I’ll also watch movies at home. Sunday I’m doing dim sum for a friend’s birthday, and I can’t recall ever having eaten at a real dim sum place. The best places are about 45 miles from me so I’ve never “been available” to go when invited, but for my best friend I gotta. Plus someone’s giving me a ride, which is the best way to get me to go somewhere.

I am seeing an apartment on Sunday! It’s not in the best neighborhood, but it’s only about a block away from one of my best friends and also would put me much closer to the baby. Plus it looks nice. Exposed brick, top floor unit, dishwasher… if I can trust the pictures. It’s supposed to be for March 1st but the lady said since I have good credit they might give me a March 15th start which honestly I would almost prefer at this point because MY FUCKING OPERA NEIGHBOR IS DRIVING ME NUTS! Last Friday I slipped a note under her door asking if she could keep quiet that night since we were taping the podcast and also politely suggested that she practice somewhere else because she is fucking loud (it was seriously a really nice note, I even told her she was talented!). So the next day she knocked on my door and I was like “Oh fuck no” because a) This is not something we need to have a conversation about, you just need to be more respectful and b) I was in my pajamas and didn’t want to interact with a human. So I ignored her and she eventually went away and then I had about three days of silence and then the day before Valentine’s she had REALLY loud sex, like, imitating a porn star sex, and every day since she has been singing. And she tried knocking on my door again, presumably to warn me that she would be singing, but I again ignored her because fuck that. When I came home from work yesterday I could hear her singing from out in the street. That is how fucking loud she is. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!??

I’m going to look at apartments tomorrow too! (I’m getting politely evicted bc the landlord is selling the property.)

I feel your pain. I left my last apartment because of the noise. It just really really gets to you and you can’t think about anything else, doesn’t it? Plus of course if you can’t sleep, then you’re exhausted, which impacts upon everything else. My current building has five apartments, four of them (me included, obvs) are great, but we have one girl who is insane and smashed the place up the other day. She was yelling at herself, to the point where the next-door neighbours called the police. Is it the law that there has to be one crazy/loud person per building? If so, who can we speak to about getting this law amended?

I don’t know what we’re doing yet, but we’re definitely leaving the apartment because it’s actually going to be sunny and not freezing.

I’m pretty lonely today all by myself in the office so expect to see a lot of me here. Since Teresa is heading to the mall I thought this would be a good time to revisit my favorite Robin Sparkles song

My freelance gig is on hold until the staff proof the first draft, so I won’t have to work on it this weekend. This is good news because now I’m free to tackle the other 5,000 things I have to do.

I really hope to find time to watch Arrival, preferably while eating takeout food.

Work is crazy and life is crazy, and I’ve got no plans at all this weekend, which is a joy. Next weekend I have to drive my cat to my mom’s because she’s looking after her while I’m IN THAILAND so I’m going to spend these days snuggling with the cat. Also it’s going to be totally beautiful and warm, so I’m going to try to spend some time outside. Happy weekend, finally!!!

  8. I am going to be biking and drinking! That’s really all that matters. There will probably be tacos as well. GOOD TIMES.
