What are your weekend plans? I’m going to sleep the whole time, hopefully.

I second sleeping!! I was up way earlier than usual this morning, and have not gotten enough sleep all week, so I am extra tired.

Lots of family stuff this weekend. Also errands and work projects.

I am super stressed out because I have to do a pre-op phone screen before my surgery and I misunderstood the doctor’s instructions and thought I was just supposed to call two weeks in advance and I’d be able to just do it with whoever answered but apparently I was supposed to call like a long time ago and make an appointment for a screen two weeks before the surgery. So I called on Tuesday and they told me they don’t have anything open until next week and I was like “Uh I’m going to be out of the country all next week so…” and the lady said she’d put me on a waiting list and that I’d hear back within 48 hours but then I didn’t so I called again this morning and apparently the lady never put me on the wait list because of course she didn’t! So this lady told me to call back when the clinic opens and see if they can squeeze me in so I did and the third lady was like “I have no idea why the second lady told you to do that, that makes no sense, she should have just put you on the wait list” so the third lady put me on the wait list (or at least claimed she did) so now I am sitting here all day waiting for them to call me and if they don’t I have no idea what I’m going to do because I’m not going to be able to do it from Toronto. So cross your fingers for me!

Anyway there are a few movies out I want to see but I’m only allowing myself to go if I finish some of the shit on my project list first so either I will be very productive this weekend or I will sit around doing nothing and feeling guilty about it. And then Sunday I leave for Canada.

Health-related appointment anything is the worst, I feel your pain. Very sorry. My best one this year is getting an appointment for a follow-up, before I’d had the actual scan it was supposed to be following up on, me asking “is this right? Should I really trek all the way to the clinic?”, being assured yes I should – guess what, of COURSE I didn’t need to go before having the actual scan…

My kids’ dentist, without fail, texts and leaves voicemails that they are due for an appointment literally a week after they just had one. It’s happened three times!

    • I had to do the same thing–schedule the call, etc–before my surgery, and it’s ridiculous that they’re claiming they might not be able to fit you in because the call took like five minutes!! Assuming it’s for the same thing, anyway (the anesthesiologist needing to know your medical history).

I found out recently that the house I lived in senior year of college is for sale, and they’re having an open house on Sunday. So I’m going to go to that and relive 2004.

So this week I had some big work news – thought I’d save till the weekend post to tell you! Obviously I have been doing my sports volunteering, also I have been looking for a new (paid) job. This week the two collided – I’ve been offered (& accepted!) a month-long role working on the Asian Games! I leave on Tuesday night! FOR TURKMENISTAN!!!

I am so excited, I can’t wait, although the nerves are kicking in a little bit now. I know a few people coming out in the second party, but none of my group, and I’m going to be away for a long time in an, ahem, interesting country. I don’t know what access I’ll have to social media, etc, but hopefully this site isn’t blocked by the government there. The Tourism for Weirdos post on this one is going to be off the chart…

    • Whoa, that’s amazing! And yes, please keep us posted to the extent you’re able!

We’ve been warned to expect our phones to be checked at the border… I can’t think an international sporting event will have too many restrictions, because you want to show the outside world how open and friendly you are. But still. Fingers crossed!

      Have fun and safe travels!!

Thank you! I’ve spent the whole week going, “no, not Turkey”, and one person even asked if I’m a secret agent going undercover!

  5. Hi gang. Bad week here. I got a tooth infection and I have to get a root canal next week. So I feel like garbage and I’m upset about how much money I have to come up with to pay for this. I’m going to spend the weekend feeling sorry for myself and drinking milkshakes.
