Tuesday TV Talk

While a steady stream of shows have debuted, this week begins the official start of the fall TV season.  A ton of shows either premiere or return on network TV, which, of course, is on top of all the other streaming options.  I’ll be watching the new season of Brooklyn Nine Nine, and am cautiously optimistic about the return of Thursday night comedy on NBC (well, at least half the shows will be good).  Anything on your plate?

I finished the third and last season of The Great British Baking Show available on Netflix and ONCE AGAIN my fave lost. I liked the winner ok but Tamal was the best, his spiderweb cake was amazing, and he was robbed of Star Baker so many times!! I’m glad there are no more seasons on Netflix because I can’t handle anymore heartbreak.

I have gotten so bad about keeping up on TV since I don’t have cable and a DVR anymore. I need to watch the season premiere of The Good Place. Also I will be watching Brooklyn 99 of course. And Elementary whenever that starts back up, except I just realized I never finished last season because when I pulled it up on Hulu recently I couldn’t remember which was the last episode I watched. I’ll have to get on that!

It’s not your fault. There are too many damn shows.

I never finished the last season of Elementary either! I think Hulu tells you where you left off, but maybe not if you haven’t watched it in a long time.

I’m also looking forward to season 2 of The Good Place. But I only saw the first few minutes of the premiere.

Well I had been watching the season on my DVR and then I moved and got rid of cable and have no recollection of what was even happening in the season when I left off. Maybe I should just watch the whole thing again.

        • welcometocostcoiloveyou says:

I also moved and got rid of cable, so I was in the same boat. BUT! I remembered that Kitty had a baby with a giant head – and I think we talked about that on here – so, that might jog your memory 🙂

Actually I guess I can’t be mad at TGBBS because this season had two major babes. The aforementioned Tamal:

I’d like to reiterate my recommendations for YouTube TV for those who don’t have cable, and to watch Riviera using the free one-week trial to Sundance Now on Amazon streaming.

I’m not really excited about any shows coming out this fall. I watched The Brave last night and I might watch the pilot of The Good Doctor, but I think CBS way over-promoted that and Young Sheldon so I hate both of those shows already just because of the 2 million commercials.

I’ve gotten back into Vice Principals on hbo. Wow they are even more awful than ever! The new Star Trek did not impress me enough to pay CBS to watch it. Especially not with commercials. What are they thinking?

    • hotspur says:

Yes! I really want to watch Star Trek, but the CBS business model for it is so loopy, my plan is just to wait and buy the DVD. (Or blu-ray. I buy blu-rays now.)

I watched all of season 6 of Scandal last week. That show has the most insane scenery-chewing performances and I love it. Also, I just got a 4K TV, which has such intense high def that film looks a lot like video, so Scandal really resembles the soap opera that it’s is. I just love a good melodrama.

Where can I watch Brooklyn 99 that’s not cable? I’m bummed to hear Star Trek isn’t great.

    • mordonez says:

Isn’t Brooklyn 99 regular old Fox? So a digital antenna connected to a teevee would do it?

    • Tracey says:

B99 is probably on Hulu, and if you get Hulu you can also watch Happy Endings. Or you could get YouTube TV and get all the network shows for $35/month, unlimited recordings that can be accessed from anywhere! I swear I’m not on their payroll I just really love the service.
