I finished Stranger Things. Overall, I thought the second season was good, but I liked season one better. If they continue to make more episodes, I’m in, but I’m going to keep my expectations low.

    – I did not like the episode where Eleven goes to Chicago. I like the premise of her finding her “sister,” but I hated the rag tag group of punks, and thought the execution of that episode was not great. Also, the musical cues this season were way too on the nose. Using the song Runaway while Eleven is running away? Come on, guys.

    – I teared up a little when Dustin was standing all alone on the dance floor. Even though that entire dance sequence felt like it belonged on a different show, I thought his part in it was well done.

    – Lucas’ little sister is a delight!

I thought the second season was about as good as the first, but since it’s just more of the same, I would give the edge to season 1. While I like the show, I never jumped on to the severe hype wagon that followed it, so I wasn’t excited or let down by this season. I do agree that The Lost Sister was pretty pointless. Everything Eleven learned from that episode could have been tacked on to another ealier episode, and would have saved us a lot of time. Felt like kind of a waste.

I think they just tried to do season 1 again except with more monsters. Something fucked up happened to Will? Check. Joyce’s house got covered in weird shit? Check. Nancy is in a love triangle with Steve and Jonathan? Check.

I very much hated Dustin in this season and wished he had gotten killed off and barring that, had learned the lesson that nobody owes you a dance just because you do your hair like Steve.

I already was really annoyed at the “All the boys dance with/kiss a girl” ending and after reading this I hate it even more: https://www.teenvogue.com/story/stranger-things-sadie-sink-kiss

Can we talk about Project Runway? I know Flanny wasn’t able to watch the last couple of episodes, so I don’t want to rant or rave about any details if not everyone is caught up.

      Gaaah, i want to know!

Ok, you asked for spoilers, so here you go!!

Two weeks ago, Tim Gunn used his save on Margarita, so they had 5 designers competing to make it to fashion week. Their challenge was to make a winter look, and everyone did a fine job.

The top 3 selected to go to fashion week were: Brandon (no surprise there), Ayana, and Kentaro! My three favorites!

THEN, the judges pushed Margarita AND Kenya through. So, all 5 get $10,000 to make collections, but then only 3 will move forward. This makes me mad because the 3 who were originally chosen as the top 3 are now on an even playing field with the others.

I like Kenya as a person and a designer. Margarita’s attitude makes me not want to root for her. Ever since she got involved in the whole cheating scandal, I haven’t been a fan of hers. Her designs are decent. The judges asked everyone why they deserved to go to fashion week, and who should go with them. Everyone picked Brandon, and none of the designers picked Margarita. She then complained about that a whole bunch when they went in the back room to wait for the judge’s decision.

Of course, I know that all of them show at fashion week to avoid spoilers, but they just don’t televise the collections of the eliminated designers.

I am rooting for Ayana, Brandon and Kentaro to win 🙂

I accidentally binged all of Alias Grace on Sunday. Guys, it’s very good. I loved it a lot. I also liked that someone barfed in literally every episode. And Zachary Levi, who I sometimes find insufferable, was an utter delight as a pseudo(???)-hypnotist peddler.

I am almost done with Bojack Horseman. I know some of you have watched this show and talked about how great it is, but I just want to state, for the record, that this is one of the best shows I’ve seen in an incredibly long time. It’s so ridiculously funny and so maddeningly sad and I’ve never seen a show more perfectly balance those two things.

    • BoJack is amazing. It’s the only show I drop everything to binge as soon as the new season’s out.

I watched a few episodes of the most recent season over the weekend including the Thoughts and Prayers episode which was not great timing considering everything. I love BoJack and usually think they handle topical stuff like this really well but I was really turned off by how they tried to conflate the gun issue with the harassment of women issue. But otherwise I’m liking this season!

I watched more Difficult People this week and Nyle DiMarco from ANTM was on one of the episodes and I laughed SO HARD at one of his scenes… I don’t want to spoil it but if you watch one episode make it that one. Even Billy and Nyle seemed to be struggling to not crack up during it.

I also started watching Scared Famous which is a new reality show where a bunch of people from other reality shows stay in a haunted house and do gross Fear Factor type challenges and pretend to be scared of obviously fake ghostly shit and it’s also a competition for charity or something. For some reason they decided to premiere the show at the end of October instead of the beginning which seems stupid, but I have found it entertaining so far though admittedly the only reason I’m watching it in the first place is that Alaska from Drag Race is on it.

Wow Vice Principals just keeps getting darker! I love it. There was a song in the last episode called Roost, but it’s not available on any of the music sites. I want it! Also I started watching the new Amy Sedaris show on Kelly’s recommendation. It’s very funny. Peewee’s playhouse meets Martha Stewart living. Kelly had to go to the set and talk to them and write about it.

  7. Tracey says:

Tonight’s the finale for the best show on television, MTV’s The Challenge!
