Tuesday TV Talk

What have you all been watching?  I haven’t been watching much, aside from the occasional late night show.  I’m about 3-4 episodes behind on Mr. Robot, so I have something to work on.

  1. My mom was up this weekend and we watched season one of The Good Place, and man was it fun to experience that with someone who knew nothing going in.

Definitely behind on Mr. Robot here as well, but I managed to binge the second season of Stranger Things in two days. I found it about as good as the first (I really like the cast), and somehow managed to avoid spoilers without trying too hard. My wife started watching The Americans, but I bailed after the pilot. I can’t commit to the 5 or 6 seasons there are!

Random show on the horizon: I picked up a pristine used copy of Under the Dome in paperback (it’s an basically the size of an encyclopedia volume) and the next day I discovered that there are three seasons of the TV show based on the book on NetFlix. When I finish the book, I’ll watch the show.

My coworker recommended a show called Pure on Hulu. It’s only 6 or 8 episodes, so I will keep watching it so I can participate in office chatting. I’m in the middle of episode 3, and I am curious to see where it goes, but overall, I think it is just ok.

If you liked Breaking Bad, but wished it was set in a Mennonite community with horse drawn buggies, then you should check it out!

I started a Doctor Who rewatch and have just gotten to the farting aliens two-parter in season 1 and I don’t know if I can push through. I can’t skip them because I’m a completist.

    • Tracey says:

Where did you start with the rewatch? Aren’t there like 50 seasons?

      • catweazle says:

I’ve never really watched the original series. They used to have some episodes on Netflix and I watched a few but it was like a greatest hits and I didn’t like not being able to start from the beginning and watch everything chronologically so I just gave up. I always start with the Christopher Eccleston season.

I love the originals but I’d recommend a curated tour, if your completism could weather it. I have similar completey instincts, but there’s just no way to watch all of 1963-1989 and maintain sanity.

I’m excited for the new (and final) season of Longmire on Friday, the only problem is that my brain has erased what happened last season so I need to find a refresher. I tried watching Alias Grace but it’s just not for me, I don’t know why but I have a hard time getting into period pieces unless it’s a Western or set in outer space.

    • Tracey says:

Oh has anyone watched Future Man? I just found out Eliza Coupe is in it so I want to check it out.

    • welcometocostcoiloveyou says:

I don’t like period pieces either – except for Westerns. I know the movie version of Westworld has multiple “worlds,” such as Medievalworld. I liked season 1 of the TV show, but if they end up not being in Westworld at some point, I’m probably not going to keep watching.
