So, How Was Your Day?

I remembered to stop at the store and buy eggs after work, so mine was a success even though the roads are pure slush right now. When will winter end? I miss complaining about the humidity.

When I stepped out of my apartment, I found my neighbor there in the hall. She looked terrified. So I asked her if everything was okay and she said, “Yes! Great! And it’s beautiful outside today!”

It is pretty nice out but beautiful overstates it unless this is your first day after escaping prison or beating cancer or something.

In other news it looks like they changed the snack-packs at work and this is an unwelcome change. I hope they didn’t change the snack-packs where you guys work and the one with almonds and raisins and cheese and apple slices is still there.

Apples AND raisins! How decadent! I went to buy some combos and they only had the cracker kind, so I know exactly how you feel. Had to walk across the street to get pizzeria pretzel, so I also bought some sour patch kids because I deserve it.

I signed up for an intermediate/advanced tennis class starting next week and I’ve been pretty nervous because I haven’t played in awhile and my skills are really more advanced beginner than anything else, but that time slot and location was the only workable option. So I went to get my racket re-strung today and the pro hit with me for twenty minutes and now I’m feeling better about it. He gave me a few tips that made a big difference on my shots. But I still have a plan in my back pocket: if I feel too out of my depth in the class I can just fake an injury.

Work-wise, I’m still on deadline – I want this project to be finished but I still have so much work to do! And I’m chasing an interview that I’m excited about, so the next two weeks are crazy but I should be able to take a breath in February.

Once again it was a Southern Snow Day, so I got to stay home. I ended up doing some work, but spent most of it taking care of chores and catching up on internet bullshit. Since the weather won’t go above freezing until midday, we don’t have to come in until noon tomorrow, so I will continue with more of the same.

It has been a productive work week. We also got an Instant Pot and it is definitely living up to the hype machine behind it. We’ve made beef stroganoff, potato soup, and chicken tacos so far, all from idea to table in less than an hour.

In other news, as a government contractor, I am keeping an eye on the news, since there is a potential government shutdown at midnight Friday. Contractors are not paid for time off.
