How Was Your Weekend?

I bought groceries, which were desperately needed, and otherwise didn’t get enough done.

On Friday evening I got a mole removed. Guys, this might surpise you because I tend to portray myself as a tough-as-nails lady, but I very much hate all medical procedures. So this was my first ever mole removal. I was at a medium level of terrified all day on Friday, and then the doctor was running late so I sat and stewed in my terror for an hour in the exam room. I guess I didn’t realize what a crazy procedure it’d be and that I’d need stitches and because of the stitches I couldn’t run all weekend even though the weather was beautiful and spring-like! I’m still acting like a total baby about the stitches because they are sometimes a little bit itchy.

Anyway, that changed my plans just a little bit for the weekend, but one plan change was good because I got to spend a bunch of time with my little baby niece instead of going for a run. She’s very adorable, maybe the MOST adorable? And then because i couldn’t go curling, I took a lovely drive on Sunday to a coffee shop where I read and wrote a little.

Stitches, what a pain in the ass. Do you get them out soon?

You had that done, but still did things on the weekend, so kudos! I award you this gif of a squirrel hanging out with a kitty.

I blew up my sleep schedule to watch the Australian Open finals from 12:30 am to around 5 am both nights but I was actually pretty productive. After napping on Saturday to catch up from the first final, I accomplished the following between 9 pm and 5 am: grocery shopping, washing and drying my hair, laundry, three hours of main job work, watching the Australian Open men’s final and producing social content for the tennis magazine I write for.

I slept a few hours before meeting friends for brunch, where we found out that this all-you-can-drink brunch allows you to switch between mimosas, sangria, and Bloody Mary’s. We had thought you had to pick one and stick with it! This is an absolute game changer. After brunch I napped out for awhile then watched Nikita and M*A*S*H for the rest of the day. I think Hawkeye Pierce had a bigger impact on me growing up than I realized.

I always wondered what those martinis really tasted like.

Haha I was Googling their still last night to see how it worked. Apparently the prop on the show isn’t quite accurate, but gin made from that type of still would allegedly be worse than the cheapest stuff you could buy in the store.

I forgot to cancel my free trial of YouTube TV, so to make the most of that $35 per month, I recorded Law & Order (original), and now there are one MILLION episodes stored on my account. As I cleaned the kitchen, did laundry, edited photos for work, made dinner – Law & Order served as background noise. I’m surprised Chris Noth and Jerry Orbach were not in my dreams.

Speaking of dreams, I got 8 hours of sleep on Friday AND Saturday night.

I did not exercise, but I did start a book. See, not ALL of my weekend was spent with the TV on. I wish I would have finished more work projects, but I’ll have to buckle down this week to make more significant progress.

      What’s your book about?

      • welcometocostcoiloveyou says:

The book is called Exit, Pursued by a Bear, and I mainly bought it because of this description on Goodreads: “Veronica Mars meets William Shakespeare in E.K. Johnston’s latest brave and unforgettable heroine.”

Basically, if you compare something to Veronica Mars, I’m sold.

    • Tracey says:

Oh no! Any time I sign up for a free trial of something, I set a reminder a week before it ends to cancel.

I went skiing for the first time in 20 years on Friday and learned that I should never ski again. I found my first couple of trips down the bunny hill unpleasant and had resolved to just sit around playing Candy Crush until my brother and sister-and-law were done but they pressured me into going on the easiest of the non-bunny hills with them and I fell several times before saying “I’M NOT PUTTING THOSE DEVIL STICKS BACK ON MY FEET” and walking down the rest of the mountain. It was deeply unpleasant and exhausting but better than falling progressively more dramatically while flexing every muscle in my legs all at once. Anyway, I am still sore and newly resolved to work on my core strength.

I also came home from vacation over the weekend which was sort of a bummer because it was fun and I don’t want to work ever again but also I was ready to sleep in my own bed instead of an air mattress. I saw 10 movies in one week so you’d think I would come home and stay off screens for a while but instead I watched a bunch of episodes of New Girl and played on my phone while resting my aching old bones on the couch yesterday. This morning I woke up and immediately realized that I had forgotten to turn my weekday alarm back on but by some miracle it was only 10 minutes before I would usually leave and I was able to shower AND get to work on time! #blessed

My weekend was pretty good. I cut my hair and that has been fun to play with. It’s super short. It used to be super long.
Other than that, we just hung out and I got some time alone in my house, which is something that very very rarely happens, so that’s nice.

    • Tracey says:

I was wondering how your haircut turned out! Are you happy with it? I get upset if I lose more than two inches so I’m very impressed by you going from super long to super short.

      • collin0truckasaurus says:

I like it! I’m still getting used to how to do it every day…hoping that curling it isn’t necessary, but I’m trying different products and stuff to see how it turns out.
