It’s Project Club Time!

Here’s last week’s post. I cleaned AND ran all my errands! Good on me.

This week I need to visit my old nemesis, the bank.

I have so much stuff to do for work and a bunch of errands to run.

    Other tasks include:
    -Getting my taxes done
    -Cleaning out my car
    -Finishing a freelance project

I really need to get better at my time management skills. I feel like I’m busy all day, but it never seems like I’m getting enough done. If anyone has any tips, please feel free to share.

Well, my taxes need to be done and stuff. I haven’t filed as a single person for many years, so I don’t even remember how that goes really.

I also need to accomplish ordering sushi tonight. Will I succeed?!?

I accomplished one step in the dental insurance task, which was getting a Costco membership because I decided to enroll in the Costco dental plan. I don’t know how it’ll work out, but it seems better than the PPO options I found. I tried to enroll but it wouldn’t accept the facility ID I entered, so now I have the dreaded task of calling customer service. I also did a few steps in my cleaning plan, emptying out the cabinets and drawers in my kitchen. So I’m feeling pretty productive!

My boss just left for vacation for two weeks and he said in multiple emails that I’m in charge while he’s gone, and I should proceed as if he doesn’t exist in making decisions. In other words…

I got signed up finally! The trick is that they don’t say it anywhere, but you’re supposed to intuit that you need to add the letters “DC” in front of the facility ID number. Thank god for customer service. I hope to end the year with perfect white teeth so I can take that off my vision board.

I’m moving the day after tomorrow and there’s still so much to do. I’m dropping off a shitload of shit at Goodwill today and I just hired a cleaning service to clean the place after the movers pick up my stuff on Saturday because the last thing I’m going to want to do is clean after the marathon packing I’m in the middle of. I just finished packing my kitchen and of course my landlady texted to say she’s showing the place tomorrow morning so now I need to move all my packed boxes out of the middles of every room. So gd annoying. I’m going to be so happy when this is done!

Guys, I finished my PhD yesterday! Now, my project is to become an adult. How to do that?

My actual new project is that I’d like to understand how to form better arguments and I think one way is to learn about debating or join a debate club. Is that a thing adults can do? Anyone have any recommendations on how to do this?

    • Tracey says:

Wow what an accomplishment! Congratulations! I don’t know about adult debate clubs, but Toastmasters comes to mind as an organization that helps people speak more confidently in public.

    • Congrats! That’s amazing! I also don’t know about debate clubs, but there always seem to be flyers posted for various discussion groups in my local cafes/on the hippie grocery store bulletin board, so maybe keep your eye out for things like that?

      Congratulations on finishing your PhD!

Maybe look at meetup.com for debate clubs. If there are none in your area, you can create a meetup 🙂
