My weekend was pretty good. Went to the soccer game Saturday which was great and then hung out at home on Sunday which was fun.

The movers finally came and I had a really good day of unpacking on Saturday and haven’t really done anything since because I am lazy. Last night was my first overnight shift and it was pretty easy. I’m on a fucked up sleep schedule at the moment but it’ll level out eventually. I am about to play my brand new Super Nintendo Classic which I am very excited about! I think I’ll start with Donkey Kong Country.

We have my original SNES and Donkey Kong Country is a favorite (but the theme music burrows into your brain!).

#TeamLazy over here, too. Lots of TV, reading, little bit of cleaning. Did my meal prep. On Friday I hung out with my friends and their toddler, who is really shaping into a person which is cool. He repeats every word you say and is a lot of fun to hang out with. He’s become obsessed with saying cheers and clinking whatever he’s eating or drinking with everyone in the room, so I started singing him the Cheers theme song and he made me sing it another 10 times in a row. Last night I watched an episode of M*A*S*H in which Hawkeye’s one true love, the one who got away, comes through his camp and she was played by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom! Whatever, it’s my weekend, I can spend it however I like.

My next door neighbor has a much more exciting life than mine. On Saturday night he was on his balcony screaming at a woman down below, who said she never wanted to see him again in her life as she got into her car. Then at 6 am he was on the phone with her arguing. Then they spent the entire afternoon having make up sex. I dream of a day when I don’t have to share walls with anyone.

I am glad I was not the only lazy one. I did the laundry — four loads! — and then tapped out. I put movies on “in the background” and then just ended up watching them. It was grim.

I did finish reading a book, though, and started reading the next book. If I were a normal person I would not count these as major achievements, but please let me. My only other weekend activity was staring into space wondering where I went wrong in life. 1999? 2002? 1987? To be sure, it was very early on.

But! One huge consolation is knowing that I don’t have to see Ready Player One. Thanks for that, catweazle!

I really think you can claim jet lag as a legitimate excuse not to do anything for awhile. I believe the common wisdom is one week of idleness for each hour of time difference.

My weekend was great. If I get the job I am going for tomorrow, this will be up there with one of the best sets of seven days I’ve had (fingers crossed).

I had a great contract with a company I love working for (part of which involved leading out the kids holding flags onto the pitch at my favourite rugby stadium for my favourite rugby team, right by the players and me trying to get the kids to calm down whilst not really being all that calm myself)

And then my friend messaged that he had just bought some tickets, and did I want one, AND GUESS WHO’S GOING TO EUROVISION?!!!!!!!!! (it’s me)

    • !!!!!!! Omg, I can’t wait for your posts about it.

My first thought was AHHHHHHH. My second thought was, omg the resulting blog is going to be tremendous!

Gnidrah going to Eurovision feels like the moment that all of Western Civilization has been building toward. Somewhere in Hades, Socrates is smiling.

This will be my third, with a trip to Sweden’s Melodifestivalen in there too for good measure. I can’t wait to be back with my people!
