I’ve been having a very boring, quiet week, which is just how I like it.
I am trying to strike a work/life/writing balance and it’s a lot of… work?
Tarantino is shooting his Manson movie a couple of blocks from my apartment, so I walked down last night and the street was dressed to look like 1968. It was sorta rad. A girl asked “Do you know what this is?” and before I could say “It’s the new Tarantino movie,” a different girl nearby exclaimed “It’s a Leonardo movie!” and that made me actually laugh.
I didn’t see Leo close up before I got bored and left, but there were lots of cool period cars. I asked one driver what his was and he said it was a Buick Riviera. It totally figures that in a street packed with Mustangs I’m like “Ooooh” over what turns out to be a Buick.
Ooh, please do keep us updated on any celebrity sightings.
Wait you get Tarantino and Bosch? Dang dude
Oh yeah. Today they’re shooting Bosch on my actual block. We’re not allowed to park there until after 11 pm. Maybe my mailbox or dumpster will become part of a classic episode, fingers crossed.
So, the last week has been kind of a mess? I woke up on Thursday with some pain in my foot, but went about my day. I had a vacation day that day, and went furniture shopping. I think I found a couch (yay!), but when I got home, I could not even take one step on my foot. So, I went to the ER.
There were no breaks (yay!), so they treated it as a sprain by wrapping my foot and giving me crutches and telling me to take a shit ton of Ibuprofen. Luckily, I had family in from out of town, because I have stairs in my house, so I crashed at their hotel for a couple of days to rest my foot.
I think I had an allergic reaction to the Ibuprofen and crutches are really hard to use! I’ve never had to use them before, but they really threw my whole body out of whack. I woke up on Sunday with a sore neck, swollen knees (???), and my jaw was locked up so bad that I could barely chew a banana! But my foot felt better?!
I finally went home on Monday, and could manage the stairs (yay!). I went to see a podiatrist yesterday, and they gave me a boot and told me to take steroids and come back in two weeks.
I don’t want to complain because there are much worse things in life than a swollen foot, but this situation has caused one million OCD triggers, followed by several OCD panic attacks. I had a lot of plans with my family that is in from out of town. Those plans are basically not going to happen, but if they weren’t in town, I don’t know what I would have done. They have helped me so much over the last couple days!
To make up for all the venting above – it’s sunny outside, I have a piece of Portillo’s chocolate cake in the fridge, and my dad wants to get rid of his piano, so he is giving it to me.
Ugh, that all sounds awful! I hope you’re able to get some rest.
You should absolutely complain about all of this! It sucks! It’s good to have perspective, but this is your health and this all sounds like a lot to deal with. I hope you feel better soon.
I have some work events coming up and I’m at the sign making stage, which means I’m spending a lot of time at Kinkos agonizing over photo posters vs. foam board, trying 100 different fonts and colors, etc., and loving every minute of it. Hotspur and I met up for happy hour and an insane movie tonight, Sorry to Bother You. Like whoa. And I found out I might be on C-SPAN in September. So very nice day.
