I’m in a pool right now, so I consider today an honorary part of the weekend.
My weekend was middling. The one thing definitely worth reporting is that when I wanted to go home on Saturday night, nine miles from home, I checked Lyft and saw the cost of a shared ride creeping up from $15 to $16 to $17 — and then, suddenly, it plunged to $3. You can bet I booked that instantly. And that for the whole ride home, I worried it was a lie.
It was not a lie. It was $3.
Didn’t do much. Finished watching Iron Fist and began to revise my memoir manuscript. And started watching Big Mouth, which is pretty darn funny.
My weekend was pretty good. I went on a four-day weekend with my two best girlfriends (the ones who haven’t been helping me plan the trip that I complained about awhile ago). It was good to see them and we had a good time, but it was kind of annoying because I spent all this time planning this weekend and was really looking forward to doing a bunch of stuff, but I had a stomach virus all last week so wasn’t up for a bunch of the stuff I had been looking forward to (like a walking brewery tour!) so we just kind of relaxed which was nice. The other annoying thing is I found this really great restaurant for breakfast so the other two spent the whole rest of the weekend insisting I pick every restaurant (even though I was still getting over my stomach bug and didn’t feel like eating anything) because I was “so good at picking”. For example, Friday afternoon I skipped a massage because it was too expensive and I just wanted to take a nap, but we were gonna go get our nails done after and then get dinner somewhere by the nail place so they’re like “You picked such a good place for breakfast, you pick the dinner place!” “Okay, what are you guys in the mood for?” “Whatever.” So instead of taking a nap, I got to scroll through menus and reviews for a bunch of places that looked good, but where I wouldn’t get to eat what I wanted because I was still sick.
I feel like I’m complaining a lot which I shouldn’t be because it was a nice weekend and I got to relax and spend some time away from my kids (even though I missed them). The house we stayed in was super cute! It was a good weekend!
Technology is the worst.
I spoke at a conference on Saturday and it went okay. My talk was going GREAT, people were nodding and taking pictures of my slides, then I got to the point where I was going to walk them through a website and found out that being plugged into a projector forced my browser so small that the site showed in mobile view and I was not prepared to navigate it that way. So basically things went off the rails and I walked away feeling not great about it. Interacting with people all day made me so tired that I just vegged on Sunday.
