So, How Was Your Day?

It’s snowing here, but otherwise my day is fine. Science does need to determine why Wednesdays last twice as long as ever other day of the week, though.

The last couple days have been somewhat stressful with my OCD. It’s also very cold here, and I already can’t wait for spring.

Good news is that we ran a Giving Tuesday campaign for my work, and we met our goal!

I have an insanely long day tomorrow, but today is going okay. My son randomly started screaming every time he tries to stand or walk so maybe he twisted his ankle or something? Is that possible for a 18 month old to do? He has a check up scheduled tomorrow so we’ll get it looked at then, but otherwise just have to wait for it to get better. It’s not swollen or bruised or anything. So weird.

There’s a big purple bump on my hand and two of my fingers tingle. I’m on day 3 of the tingle, day 30 of the bump. This is normal, right? I shouldn’t worry? It’ll go away?

    • Day 30?? GO TO THE DOCTOR.

    • collin0truckasaurus says:

Yeah, go to the doctor. It’s almost definitely a spider who buried her eggs in your hand. Or else you broke it. or else it’s an unknown** disease. Go to a doctor, you’ll feel better!

      **by me (not a doctor)

      • hotspur says:

Spider is honestly my lead theory.

Full disclosure: I actually did show it to a doctor around day 15, and he said it was probably no big deal and would go away on its own. I see that as legally binding — but the tingle is a curveball. Luckily: Today there’s no tingle! I’M CURED!

I’m not cured, the bump is still here.

I am uncomfortable with this whole bump situation. Seeing as it is not going away on its own, perhaps a second opinion?

I’m home! But I’m really sick. I came down with a bad cold as soon as I got to Tokyo but I still kept doing stuff because I’m stubborn. So I have had a cough and no voice for a week now. Maybe I should meet up with Hotspur at the doctor. While I was gone my next door neighbor DIED and I can’t wrap my head around it, it’s so awful.

    • hotspur says:

Oh no! You’re sick and someone died? I’m so sorry. Was he/she/zer older, younger? Was it an accident? A condition? I hope these aren’t offensive questions. Were you very close? If any one of my neighbors died I’d be weirded out, and a couple of them — I’d genuinely be upset. I really am sorry.

Welcome back to the USA, though. I hope you did not bring an Asian flu that our foolish American immunological systems are not trained to fight. We must stay strong to win the trade war.

He was probably in his 50s, he had a heart attack. The building manager found him and is still really shaken up. I didn’t know him well, we just spoke in passing, but he was always nice.

I had a bump on my wrist once that was a bone spur (I think) but eventually it went away. I also had tingling once caused by a pinched nerve. Are you under a lot of stress?

        • hotspur says:

I honestly don’t even know what not feeling stressed is like. I have a memory of sitting in a folding chair in the sunlight when I was in my 20s, but I’m not sure it was really me.

I really am sorry about your neighbor. Fifties is young. A neighbor of mine died a few years ago. He was just watching TV and suddenly couldn’t breathe. It was a bloodclot that got into his lung and he died that night at the hospital. He was in his forties. It’s awful.

This made me laugh pretty hard. Is that rude?

Getting sick is the worst, but I’m glad you’re home safe. You’re going to share some experiences with us, right? One or two? Pics and stuff maybe?
