Netflix and Chat

What did you guys do for the long weekend? I watched a lot of US Open, dealt with a clogged kitchen sink, and unwittingly ordered a calzone that was bigger than my head. And now it’s Tuesday!

Also, what are you watching these days as we wait for the fall shows to start? I burned through the Netflix glass blowing reality competition show very quickly (and immediately signed up for a glass blowing class). I also watched the Amazon original The Boys, based on a comic book. It’s pretty gory at times but overall I really liked it.

I helped someone install wood floors! It probably slowed them down to have an assistant that needed things to be explained to them, but it was really fun, and the room looks great.

I also started to put together samples for a freelance gig that I am going to apply for. I don’t feel very confident about getting the job, but if it works out, I would be very happy.

I’ve been watching a handful of shows that are all fine, but I don’t know that I would necessarily recommend them? I enjoy them all enough to keep watching though 🙂

Lodge 49 – Hulu, but I think it’s an AMC show
This Way Up – Hulu, not sure if it’s a Hulu original
Imposters – Netflix, not sure what channel it was on before Netflix

Two other shows on Netflix that I definitely recommend are Derry Girls and The Inbetweeners. Both coming of age comedies.

Oh I loved Imposters! That was on Bravo. I saw some people on Twitter raving about how funny Derry Girls is.

Imposters is fun, and there was just a pretty big twist that made it even better. I think I’m just over halfway through season 1.

I went away for the weekend and got a lot of writing done in a beachfront hotel room (plus lots of walks along dramatic foggy clifftops, and I saw a parade). There was no TV. But my plan for the rest of September is to delve back into movies, with a focus on Italian horror of the 1960s-70s.

My Blu-ray player died in the middle of Blood and Black Lace (1964). I hit pause to get a Yasso (low-calorie frozen yogurt pop; would recommend) and then it would never unpause. Well, it was a cheap unit and it lasted 4-5 years, so I can’t complain. Do I get it repaired? Are there repair shops? I hate the idea of just throwing it out. We’re running out of planet. Anyway, to carry on with the eve, thanks to Prime I found Short Night of Glass Dolls (1971) and watched that. I could watch Italian horror forever just based on the titles. Up next I plan to try Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key. See what I mean?

Maybe your local council will take parts for recycling? I dunno. I agree, there should be more ways to repair, but at least you might be able to find ways to reuse some of it. It had a good life.

I’ve just been on holiday and it was great. Sure you all wanted to know that. So I have been watching Greece’s Next Top Model, Greece’s X Factor, and Greece’s just television shows. Great.

I’m very annoyed because my auntie gave me duff info and I ended up NOT going to watch the Davis Cup when I could have. And so I am back and going to find new shows to watch here.
