How Was Your Weekend?

Mine was good and too short, as usual. On Saturday I visited with my parents and spent as much time as possible outside because the weather was perfect, and then on Sunday it rained, so I got to be lazy and read all day. The best of both worlds!

Sunday was my birthday, and I gave myself the gift of not setting an alarm and sleeping in until noon. Went to dinner with family at a very good Mexican restaurant, and treated myself to some Lindt chocolate for dessert.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes on the Friday post!!

My weekend included disposing of a bird that flew into our window at full speed and a squirrel that was in the road in front of our house. This sounds like the start of a Stephen King story. Beyond that oddness, it was pretty good, including fried chicken and waffles and good beer.

I spent most of the weekend lying either in bed or on my couch, and also being a snot fountain. By Sunday I had gotten most of it out of my system and I decided to be semi-productive and take out the trash, and of course my complainy downstairs neighbor was on his back deck when I went down so we said awkward hellos to each other. Very rude of him to continue to exist!

Yesterday I edited the latest episode of the podcast and learned that like five or six chunks of the recording were corrupted and just skipped forward because my computer is old and shitty and can’t run basic programs without fucking up. So now I need a new computer but don’t have the money for it. Time to incur some credit card debt!

Hello! I took the train from Paris to Amsterdam yesterday and today I walked 12 miles all over the city. I went to the Anne Frank house first thing this morning and it was incredibly moving. Then I went to the Van Gogh museum, which was a bust in my opinion simply because they let way too many people in. It’s just a crushing mass of smelly people (including me, it’s really hot right now, but I just did laundry so I won’t smell as much tomorrow).

I’m happy to have seen this city, but in truth, it’s not my cup of tea. I know so many people love Amsterdam but I’m not its biggest fan. Tomorrow I’m going to take a train to see windmills so I’m hoping to enjoy that.

Oh man speaking of laundry, I just witnessed a Russian guy blow like 20 euro trying to wash a blanket and he didn’t even get it washed! I didn’t know what he was trying to do in time to stop him. The machines are a little confusing, but he made several dumb mistakes. Then he gave up and offered me his tokens but I was done already plus I didn’t want to have to report it on my security clearance application that’s a joke, see you guys later!

  5. I had a great weekend! We went to the park Saturday and watched sports on TV and yesterday my in-laws watched both kids so we went out to lunch and then just hung out upstairs by ourselves and watched stuff. Watched a lot of House of Cards.

My 5K is this Saturday, so this weekend I did some “long” runs and they went excellently! I’m very excited to run on Saturday, but even more excited for the run to be over and for me to get my new tshirt. Because I ran a bunch, the rest of the weekend was spent being incredibly lazy. I ate a lot of ice cream.

Friday night I went to the opening of an Andy Warhol exhibit at our city’s main art museum, and it was pretty good! It turns out a few people I know also went, but I have the worst luck running into people I know on the street (or maybe it’s a blessing?). Saturday I went to see Wonder Woman, which TBH was just okay. That being said I am glad it’s getting good reception, and hopefully that will open the door to better movies in its genre. Sunday I went to a company function at a museum, which was rented out just to employees for the evening. They also served dinner, but their offerings were pretty bad, so we left and had sushi instead.
