It’s Friday! Let’s Dance!

What are you doing this weekend? I still feel sick, so I’ll be resting and pretending I don’t need to do laundry.

This weekend is super busy, some of it fun stuff, some of it not so fun stuff.

I can’t say exactly, but I would bet that 95% of the weekend will be spent listening to Harry Styles’ new album.

But also I am going to keep the TV off and write. Even though I just started Transparent yesterday and want to binge it. I’m going to stay strong!

I’ll be celebrating both Eurovision and my birthday tomorrow (on which note, guys, there are posts written and coming your way soon, I hope!)

On Easter I discovered that my baby cousin has become a Drag Race fan so she and my little sister and I are going to the Drag Queens of Comedy show tonight and then having a sleepover. My cousin has had some health issues and other life stuff and still lives with her parents and doesn’t ever really go into the city so she’s very excited and I feel the need to show her a good time. Luckily I managed to clean up my apartment last night and put all the area rugs in place (though there are still unpacked boxes). On Sunday I’m hosting my family for Mother’s Day which means the baby will be at my place again which is always very fun. But after the shitty stressful week I’ve had I wish I had more alone time planned for myself.

My exciting weekend will involve more tidying of my apartment and copyediting the upcoming issue of our journal. I don’t mind either of those things, they’re fine. And maybe brunch!

I just read a delightful piece by Kelly in defense of the humble donut: https://thehairpin.com/a-donut-is-a-great-deal-b3312ec2daf1

Tonight I’m going to dinner and a play! The Legend of Georgia McBride. Tomorrow I’m going to my cousin’s husband’s birthday BBQ. My aunt and uncle that I’ve been avoiding since November are going to be there, so in an effort to not be awkward I sent her a hello text yesterday and of course she made it awkward.

But how I met my cousin is crazy — several years ago now she was a temp in my office. I’d only communicated with her once by email under her maiden name ten years before that, so I didn’t know who she was until I sent her an email at work. She saw my last name and said it was her grandma’s maiden name, and we figured out my grandpa and her grandma were brother and sister! So we’re not first cousins but that’s how we label it because I don’t know what else to call it.
